Welcome!
Turtle Creek Farms
Est. 1999
We are taking orders now for August/September delivery. It was a great year for growing garlic! As soon as everything dries and we trim and clean it we will begin shipping it directly to you!
We have also added Multiplier Onions!! If you are not familiar with them, they are a great addition to your garden. You plant one onion and get 10-12 onions in return! They store 8-12 months if kept in the proper conditions. Plant the same time as your garlic in the fall. We have a limited amount available to see what the interest is. We will definitely be planting more then we did last fall if only for our own use! Order soon before they are gone!
Garlic Variety Spotlight
Susanville: Versatile & Flavorful
Some people we talk to have never heard of the Susanville garlic variety. So I would like to introduce Susanville to you. Susanville is an Artichoke Softneck variety with pink or purple streaking that is a very prolific grower. Susanville is an improved version of the California Early variety. As you can see, Susanville produces huge bulbs! Artichoke varieties have layers of cloves inside the bulb. Susanville regularly produces 12-15 cloves per bulb! For you seed growers, that's 12-15 plants yield per bulb. Now, if you are a fan of roasted garlic, Susanville is also for you. Susanville's flavor will please any garlic lover, raw or roasted. As you can see below, the cloves are exceptional as well. These are cloves from 1 bulb of Susanville Garlic Seed.

For our Farmer's Market sellers, if you sell by the pound, Susanville is our recommended choice. You plant 12-15 cloves (sometimes more) and yield a pound of garlic from 4-5 plants (average). A great investment! Susanville is also our selection for Garlic Braids. It is the variety that our garlic braids are made from.
Susanville is also are easiest grower. It is what we recommend for our beginner growers. It loves cold winters especially. Please note that we did not fertilize this variety at all last year. And if we use any fertilizer at all, it is an organic foliar fertilizer.
If you don't want to grow your own, that's ok too! We also sell Susanville in our Food Garlic section. Our food garlic will be smaller bulbs, so they store longer for you, but our Susanville food grade is still a good size bulb! Roasted or raw, try it out!
